Just For Visitors
What Can I Expect?
At Covenant Life Church, no one has anything to fear. The Gospel of Jesus Christ creates a safe, non-accusing place where we sinners can rethink our lives before God.
But we understand that visiting a church for the first time can be an intimidating experience, especially when you don't really know what to expect. So, here are a few things that you can expect when you visit Covenant Life Church on any given Sunday:
A Warm Welcome:
The old adage is true, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. However, we want to do more than try to impress you. We want you to know that we are genuinely glad you have come to worship with us and we want to do everything possible to make you and your family feel welcome. We want you to know that you are a welcome addition to our worship service and we hope you will begin to feel at home.
We worship with a purpose. We want to honor and to magnify the greatness of God, His attributes, and His work of redemption in His Son, Jesus Christ. We are less concerned about the style of music as we are about the content of the songs that we sing. The point is that you should come expecting to sing songs that express biblical truth about God.
During our Sunday meetings we believe that expositional preaching (book by book) is the building block of growing as disciples of Jesus Christ. This means we teach from the Bible, because the Bible is all about Jesus. Often we’ll go through whole books of the Bible, verse by verse, to show you what the whole Bible teaches and how it relates to Jesus. The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing the word of God, the Bible. So we want to preach as much of it as we can. All our sermons are online, so you can check out all this by giving a listen yourself.
We are a needy people and God is, mercifully, both willing and able to meet us in our need. Therefore we begin each Lord's Day with a time of devoted God-ward prayer in which we unite our hearts around a particular Bible text and then seek the face of God together in prayer on the basis of what that text reveals to us about God's nature, His purposes, and His ways. This is always a special time of fellowshp with one another where we come before our Lord together. Our Prayer Meeting begins at 9:30 AM.
